Welcome to Roaring River Canoe Rentals

We're located on the Roaring River 3/4 mile from the mouth of the Roaring River and the Yadkin River.

Our launch site is located at one of the oldest grist mill sites in Wilkes County. Electricity was produced here on this site before the town of North Wilkesboro had electricity. The rock foundations for the grist mill still exist along parts of the mill, along with a water turbine that was used to power the mill.

The mill was destroyed by the flood of 1916 and was rebuilt in 1924 to be destroyed again by the flood of 1940.

This is a historical site. You will enjoy seeing remnants of these mills as you are paddling on the river.

Starting at the old grist mill on Roaring River, you can canoe to the Ronda access area located at the park in Ronda picnic area or you can continue on down the mighty Yadkin to the access area located at the old ball park in Elkin. Also, you can be transported to one of the access ramps in Wilkesboro and canoe back to old grist mill on Roaring River. No matter what trip you take, you will enjoy the abundance of wildlife and scenery.

If you are a fisherman, small mouth, large mouth, red eyes and catfish are a few of the fish you may catch.

Canoe Safety

Roaring River Canoe Rentals wants you to have a safe and enjoyable time paddling. Prior to renting a canoe, you will be required to sign a rules and liability release form. PFD's (safety equipement) are included and are required to be worn during rental of canoes, however we assume no responsibility for your safety or for the loss or damage to your belongings or any equipment.

Rates

Rates are based on two person canoes.

Trip up to 3 hours:
$20.00 per person

Trip up to 6 hours:
$25.00 per person

Additional persons:
$5.00

Transportation is included.
Your canoe trip will include gear for two.
You must be 18 years old or accompanied by an adult.
Deposits are required on daily rental and overnight trips.
Renters will be responsible for loss of gear or damage.
